Bhrigu Lake Trek 5 days 4 nights

The lake is nestled amid the Great Himalayas and its banks are thought to be the site where Rishi Bhrigu, one of the seven renowned sages of the Hindu religion, meditated while residing on the globe. The locals believe that due to this the lake never freezes completely. It is likewise thought that this was the site where he wrote the Bhrigu Samhita, an astrological manuscript with predictions of the future and records of the yesteryear.

Also Legend holds that many local deities of the Kullu region take a drop in its sacred water, most prominent among them is Guru Vashisht, who go to the lake at least one time in two or three year cycle. And even today, many local people believe that Vashisht make the steep ascent to visit this holy space.

A natural spring known as the Nehru Kund, which is fed by the Bhirgu Lake, adds to the attraction of the place. This natural spring of cold clear water named after Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, who used to drink water from this spring during his stay in Manali.

It can be reached by trekking either from the Vashisht Temple, which is renowned for its hot water springs close to the town of Manali or from Gulaba village. Actually there is no settlement in Gulaba and is actually an area of the Pir Panjal mountain range.
